It all started with a humble shack on the Simpson Bay Lagoon. Lee Halley kept his fishing boat there, loaded with gear and ready for the day’s catch. Friends would drop by to share a few drinks, swap fishing stories, and enjoy the laid-back island vibe.
One day, Lee fired up a small grill to cook some fresh fish for himself and his buddies. That simple idea sparked something bigger. He decided to build a bar, serve grilled fish and cold drinks — and just like that, people started coming. The more Lee built, the more the crowds grew.
Soon, the shack became a full-blown restaurant, complete with a dance floor, dining tables, office space upstairs, and a new dock for his boats.
Then something unexpected happened — tourists discovered Lee's Roadside Grill & Bar. They told their friends, who told their friends, and word spread far and wide.
In 2018, the restaurant had to relocate. Never one to back down from a challenge, Lee picked up his tools once again. By September 2019, he reopened at a brand-new spot in Pelican.
Lee Halley may have started as a fisherman, but today he’s a proud businessman and the owner of one of the most popular restaurants on the island.
